We took a look at Vertex’s Archeyle almost four years ago, and today we’ll be looking at Cecil, the latest in their series of Elf Village figures. I liked Archeyle’s design but I felt that the execution left something to be desired. From what I can tell, this is a common sentiment regarding Vertex’s figures and it’s one of the reasons I haven’t reviewed very many of them. Laziness, of course, is the main reason. At any rate, here’s Cecil.
This figure is manufactured by Vertex and was released in August 2022. She’s listed as the eighth villager from the Elf Village, though it appears that the sixth villager – Melmu – isn’t hitting stores until August 2023 so I’m not certain what order they’re releasing these figures. Cecil is sculpted in 1/6 scale and stands about 25 centimeters in height. The version shown here is the limited edition which includes an additional frowning face and a special base which has a faux-grass texture on its top surface.
Cecil designed by the artist Mataro, whose works have been adapted into a number of figures already, principally from SkyTube and Native. This might suggest that most of his designs are of the hentai variety, and Cecil is no exception. That said, she does have a skirt that provides a modicum of modesty.
Though that really only applies in the front, as her skirt is completely inadequate in covering up her rear.
Cecil is wearing some fetching bikini armor, though her outfit is technically a one-piece leotard with a number of skin-baring cutouts. In keeping with the esteemed traditions of this type of armor, Cecil’s arms and lower legs are protected in armor while her torso is mostly unprotected. Or rather, her right arm is protected, as she’s only wearing a long glove along her left arm.
In popular media, fantasy elves are commonly portrayed as willowy and lithe, but in contrast to contemporary interpretations, Cecil is thickly built, with stout legs and a conspicuously large ass totally bared aside from a skimpy white thong. Many anime-style illustrators tend to not emphasize the shape of the ass but Mataro is an exception as Cecil’s backside is generously-endowed.
In front, Cecil’s crotch is barely covered by her armor.
The Elf Village must apparently be located in a dangerous locale as most of the residents shown thus far are armed, and Cecil is no exception. Cecil appears to be some type of warrior, as she’s carrying a large double-bladed sword. It’s painted in an odd blue color which gives it a cartoonish look that I have to admit I’m not that fond of, but I don’t think it’s a huge problem.
Cecil comes with an optional chest part that allows her to be displayed with her breasts proudly exposed. They come with some small pasties attached by a gummy adhesive so she can be displayed with mostly-bared breasts if one prefers that look.
This version of Cecil also comes with an extra face that shows her frowning. I prefer the happier face personally, but this face looks good as well.
The lewdness of Cecil’s design will likely be the aspect that draws the most attention, but other aspects deserve attention as well. For example, her hair is very nicely sculpted.
But I imagine elements such as this will still command the most attention.
And certainly there’s nothing wrong with that, being that the characters of the Elf Village series are obviously designed to titillate. I think Cecil is my favorite of the group; I think she has the best body shape of them all and I love her outfit. She has a really cute expression, particularly with her hair draped over one eye. And of course, she looks great topless. I know that Vertex isn’t always credited for their abilities but in this case, I think high praise is justified.
I like the intricate details on the metal parts of her bikini armor, although a chrome gold or rose gold finish would be nicer instead of a bronze finish.
Also, I love how well shaped and well sized her bare breasts are. Huge yet not exaggerated and still in proportion with the rest of her body. Very enticing.
Just imagine if the crotch section of her leotard was removable, showing a well detailed vulva, complete with a nice pink slit and a glossy finish to simulate wetness. Could have been a great addition to an already awesome figure.
Overall, I think this is one of the best figures in your collection.
I’d agree, I really like this figure a lot, more than I thought I would as I have much more mixed feelings about Archeyle. I also agree it’s a little bit of a shame that Cecil’s costume doesn’t allow for a more lewd presentation; that would’ve been pretty neat and would’ve provided for sort of an explicit symmetry with her bared breasts which are, as you say, a really nice size. I’m guessing a fair number of people would consider them too big but I think they’re just at the top end of perfect.
Celile is great, I also bought the limited edition of hers, she is so big.
I like the sturdy and chubby body of the elf, also the nicely rounded butt.
The gentle smile is really sweet and I like one eye covered hairstyle on anime characters anyway. The hair is indeed beautiful. Her boobs look very nicely sculpted, I haven’t tried peeling off the nipple covers, as I didn’t want to damage anything on her.
The outfit is nice with a very good level of detail, the transparent scarf like thing is my favorite.
I only don’t like the skirt it should be longer and seethrough, so I don’t use it at all.
The weapon is a strange choice, it looks more like something an ogre would use.
The dark blue color makes it look like a toy based on Masters of the Universe XD
It’s interesting to see Vertex doing a top tier figure out of nowhere
I can’t believe that they also made Archeyle which was slightly lacking.
I thought the same thing about the color of her sword 😀 It reminded me of the plastic toys I had with a kid, with all the strange colors. But I guess it’s okay since I don’t notice the sword. I need to figure out where my other Vertex figures are since I’d like to take a look at Kukuru and Lincia; I’m not sure which boxes they are in, unfortunately.
