Today we’ll look at a Korean figure from a Korean gacha game: Eileene from Seven Knights. I vaguely remember downloading Seven Knights a long time ago but I didn’t spend more than a few minutes with the game. From my admittedly limited research, the game looks somewhat similar to games like Summoners War and Epic Seven, though the graphics seem very dated, somewhere on the level of the original PlayStation in quality, with the chibi styling of its characters particularly reminding me of Final Fantasy VII and Tactics. There’s apparently a sequel out, which looks far more modern and ditches the chibi artwork for a far slicker, modern, and more realistic aesthetic reminiscent of Korean MMOs such as the Lineage, TERA, and Black Desert series.
A couple of additional notes regarding Eileene: she also appeared in the mobile game The King of Fighters All Star a few months back, which is kind of an odd and nonintuitive pairing, but mobile game collaborations often are, seemingly. There’s currently a Seven Knights anime airing on television, but I do not know if Eileene shows up; my guess is that the principal cast are original characters, though I’m not sure about that. I haven’t followed any anime series in years and I’d be interested in hearing if this show is any good.
Eileene is apparently a leader of a mercenary group that figures prominently in the story of Seven Knights. She also apparently has multiple looks, each quite different than the others, and I’m not sure what the significance of each appearance is. I presume the version of her depicted by this figure is her base design, though I certainly could be wrong about that.
This figure is manufactured by a company called King Kong Studio, which appears to distribute various types of figures, presumably in South Korea. I’m not sure how many figures they’ve produced themselves, but they’ve developed at least two figures of Seven Knights characters, this one and one of a character named Shane. The sculptor is French Doll, a member of the circle Cerberus Project, which collaborated extensively with Yamato in the past, and with Arcadia and Flare more recently.
This figure stands about 25 centimeters in height and requires a small amount of assembly before she is ready for display. On that note, I think that Eileene is supposed to be fixed to her base but my figure was loose; I’m not sure if that condition is a manufacturing issue or if the damage occurred sometime during the several years I’ve had the figure sitting here in its box. Her pose and the weight of her cape means she’s completely incapable of standing upright if she’s not firmly anchored and I’m guessing I should superglue her foot to her base. In lieu of that rather permanent modification, I’ve used a doll stand, which is very unsightly in these photographs but nonetheless provided an expedient solution to an unexpected problem.
I admire the character design in many mobile games (probably not a surprise, since many mobile games entice curious gamers with appealing characters), which is quite probably the primary reason I’m principally a gacha game player these days. Eileene is no exception; her design is attractive, incorporating several themes that I’m a big fan of, most notably the skimpy armor motif. Eileene’s wearing a plate bustier with matching thigh-high boots and gloves, set off by a rather fetching black thong. Having watched some videos of Eileene in action from several games, it seems like she typically fights with two weapons simultaneously, but this figure comes with just the single spear.
I tend not to write too much about manufacturing quality when I review figures, but this figure has some obvious issues, even aside from the busted base. Two problems are evident just on her right arm: there’s a black mark on her skin, and it seems like her arm isn’t entirely attached. I’m not sure what that’s about. My figure has a few scratches, including a prominent one going right across her ass. The paint application is not what I’d describe as precise. I’m not excessively bothered by any of these issues, aside from the broken base, but it’s hard not to notice them.
Here’s a close-up of Eileene’s backside, showing that scratch as well as her panties.
Detail is pretty good – perhaps not spectacular, but pretty good. Here’s what her boots look like.
She has a fairly impassive look on her face, which means that her facial features aren’t particularly prominent.
In contrast with the front of her head, the back of her head is rather more detailed, with her hair looking something like a sea anemone.
I like this figure, in spite of its issues and the fact that I can’t display it until I repair it or improvise some sort of a stand. Eileene has a very nice character design, one that appeals to me quite a bit. Moreover, being that it seems like many of the better-known figure makers don’t really produce many figures from gacha games unless they’re spectacularly famous properties like Azur Lane or Girls Frontline, it’s nice that this figure exists at all. I’ve noticed that there are a few other Korean and Chinese companies producing figures from various other gacha games and I’m curious as to how they will turn out.
Glad to see another cool photo set and review! Her anemone-like hair is very distinctive, and her pose with the cloak, one-legged pose and armor being quite dynamic.
I watched a few minutes of Seven Knights anime and it didn’t really grab me, seeming a bit generic, but I know nothing of the game.
That’s a little unfortunate; I keep thinking about trying to get back into anime, being that I think the last series I watched was Cross Ange, but there’s not a lot out there that interests me.
An interesting and attractive figure with an ass reminiscent of Yamato’s Amanda Werner. Even her posing seems similar. At least from the waist down. It’s nice to see more niche or unusual characters get the love that so many never do.
It’s funny that you mention Amanda; I hadn’t made the connection, but my Amanda figure is having some significant leaning issues so I have it propped against a wall to stabilize it a bit, and my Eileene figure obviously has major problems staying upright as it is. I think I may be getting more figures from gacha games; many of them have really cool character designs that I admire quite a bit.
OMG, looks like this has quite a few QC issues.
I remembered flipping out when I have had at least 2 figures from Skytube having QC issues. You would think that a company like Alphamax Skytube would have better quality control, but I guess it happens. As someone once said (about transformers), you can’t put a pricepoint on QC.
Yeah, it has some flaws. And yeah, I’d be a bit disturbed if I got a figure from a company like SkyTube (or Alter, or Max Factory) and it had QC defects. I’m a little more forgiving of this figure, since the manufacturer doesn’t have much of a track record, the character is sort of obscure, and I like how the figure looks, but I’d still would’ve preferred it if this figure could stand upright without me having to decide how to repair it.
