Hobby Link Japan had this free shipping dealy going on a couple weeks ago, and I took advantage of it to pick up Cammy. This version of Cammy comes from the Street Fighter Zero/Alpha games, as does my other Cammy. I like her Delta Red costume more, and it’s a bit curious that figure manufacturers seem to prefer depicting her in her Shadaloo uniform.
Cammy comes in 1/6 scale from Yamato. The original sculpt comes from REFLECT, which I assume is an alias for Mitsumasa Yoshizawa. He’s collaborated extensively with Yamato, primarily on Shunya Yamashita-inspired figures. It appears he also sculpted the other Cammy figure I own, although that one was manufactured by Kaiyodo.
Cammy is posed in a straightforward manner, standing at attention with her hand raised in a salute. Workmanship is pretty solid; the sculpt looks good and the paint is fine. In particular, there’s a nice wash effect which highlights the ribbing on her uniform, which is a nice touch. Her backside is a bit flatter than I like, which is a shame but not a surprise.
The base is a very small circle labelled with her name. It gives her a very small form factor, which I appreciate since I’m running desperately short on shelf space.
The art style in Street Fighter has varied over the years; Street Fighter IV features relatively realistic (albeit heavily-muscled) character designs, while the designs in the Street Fighter Zero games were more strongly influenced by anime. Obviously, this Cammy evinces a realistic styling.
Her face is expressionless, which is understandable given her status as an amnesiac Shadaloo assassin. Her pinpoint pupils give her stare a disturbingly vacant look, particularly in dark lighting.
I’ll admit it’s not easy to say a lot about this figure. I like it, but there’s not much that stands out. Cammy fans will probably be interested, but I don’t think there’s much here that will appeal to people who aren’t Street Fighter fans.
Super-self-inflicted wedgie of doom!
Arriving this week i hope, but i ordered the blue version. I really like the sculpt and pose a lot… specially “the disturbingly vacant look” 😛
Good work Yamato.
>> Guy
Her trademark! Probably the coolest part of this figure, too.
>> Ouroborus
I like the blue one too, and I thought about getting it. I went with pink just because I don’t have too many pink figures in my collection.
I own a version of “Shunya Yamashita. This figure also pleases me a lot. Her look is incredible and it is beautifully highlighted in your last picture.
Thanks! Yamato sometimes gets ragged on (unfairly in my opinion), but I agree that they did a pretty nice job here. They also did a pretty nice job on the next figure I’m going to review.
Yay for Cammy! <3<3<3
Awesome that you got her!
I own the Pink Kaiyodo Cammy and I actually would love to add this one to my collection but as you wrote shes rather plain and there are alot higher priority figures out there.
Its kinda weird that I always like the characters in fighting games i totally suck with ^^;;
I suck at fighting games in general (although I like them anyway). I can kinda/sorta play Cammy in Street Fighter IV, which is to say, I know her moves but not much more. I haven’t played SF4 online but I bet the only way I could win is to pick Akuma and get pummeled until I can pull off his ultra combo.
I’m looking forward to getting Dizzy in a few months, I think she might be my favorite character of any fighting game … possibly excepting the AM2 palm tree and the race car in Fighters Megamix.
Thanks for the Review. I’ve acquired a recente taste for collecting action figures (not quite sure the proper name), and I started ordering this one. I found it rather simple but also quite beautiful.
I have other 4 statues of Spawn, but I don’t know if they count. For me it does, ’cause the great quality and details.
Also here in Argentine it’s a very expensive hobby.
This one cost me 112 dollars, and you have to multiply every dollar for 3,83.
Sure they do! Figures are figures. Or rather, the figures that I review here are usually just called scale figures or PVC figures, while action figures usually refer to figures with balljoints and posable limbs.
I hear you about the cost … it’s gotten much more expensive than it was just a couple years ago. It’s still a ton of fun though XD Have fun with your collecting!
Another statue with an hot ass and a hot body. I’m impressed.
