Orchid Seed dispenses with pretension when it comes to understanding their niche in the figure industry: they make ero figures, and good ones at that. The Hustler girl, sculpted in a solid 1/7 scale, is the latest in Orchid Seed’s burgeoning lineup, and there is a lot to like about her.
Removing her from her packaging was a bit of an adventure, as the billiards ball popped out of the plastic tray unnoticed. I spent near half an hour searching for it, as I would have looked quite the fool if I rushed out this review and didn’t include the ball. So a word of caution to anyone who buys this figure: be careful when opening the box.
To the best of my knowledge, the Hustler comes from an illustration drawn by Happoubi Jin for his artbook Sweet Body. Orchid Seed has taken a few liberties with the design, mostly for the better: her skull isn’t quite so elongated, her eyes are a bit bigger, and the ball she is holding has been made into a more realistic size.
Her base is a corner of a billiards table, which she freely perches upon. Her only support is the pool cue itself, which attaches to a small notch cut in the table.
Her paintjob is excellent – a bit low-key, but superb nonetheless. I especially like her face; she can pass as either smoking hot or simply cute if one disregards her pendulous breasts, which admittedly are difficult to ignore.
Her sculpt is also very good, particularly if one is inclined to liking her sort of body build. Now, there is one sculpting flaw that is either very conspicuous or irrelevant, and I’ll talk more about it in a bit.
The billiards ball is not attached to her hand, so care must be taken not to jar or bump the Hustler. I’m guessing I’ll accidentally knock her over and lose the ball inside of two months.
Happoubi Jin’s art makes for a good figure by itself, but Orchid Seed has gone the extra step and thoughtfully provided for cast-off clothing. The Hustler’s arms separate from her torso, and her torso separates from the waistband of her panties.
And that’s where the aforementioned sculpting issue comes in; on my figure her torso doesn’t quite perfectly line up with her lower body, so there are very visible gaps right above her underwear. Obviously this won’t be a problem for people who choose not to display her in her half-naked glory, but for those that do, it might be worthwhile to use a hair dryer for a few seconds to heat up the plastic edges and bend them a bit to minimize the gaps.
Other than that, the Hustler girl looks great. Fantastic, even. She is definitely worth the money and now I need to decide in what comprehensiveness of attire I am going to display her in.
I’ll take a dozen of those, plz
Nice shooting for a sexy figure ^^
Ah, this figure has turned out much nicer than I thought. But who am I to talk, I got no money for PVC nowadays ;s
>> Observer Extraordinaire
Now that would be one epic pool hall.

Thanks!

Yeah, one Dollfie would wipe out my figure budget for about two months, seven would have me in debtor’s prison.
Nice Get!
If I would have had the cash I would have bought her aswell. My SuperSoniko by Orchid Seed has the same prop falling issue like hustler. Her Valentines Choco isnt attached to her Hand aswell and likes to fall like a dead bird
Yeah, I’m kinda wondering if I ought to glue it to her hand. I’d feel pretty dumb if I lost the ball. Hmm, then again, if I can find a sphere about a centimeter wide, I suppose I can paint it up to look like a billiards ball, if I do lose the original.
Amazing work. The Sweet Body Hustler is a wonderful piece. I bought it yesterday because I saw this review and liked it. Thanks, I really thank you about this reviews because when I want a pvc figure I can search it here and know more about it. Thanks!!!… again XD
Thanks, I’m glad that my site is helpful! XD
That’s my girl! Hustler is the most beautiful figure … from my point of view XD.
That aspect of a woman in some kind of uniform, her hair … * o * her eyes!
Kawaiii!
This classic version is better than another in pink. This and the Cardinal are my favorites.
I love this clothes in neutral colors. The Cardinal is slightly tanned.
The Hustler is one of my favorite figures, too. I really like Happoubi Jin’s art … it’d be pretty cool if more of his work were made into figures, like Tony Taka. I hope Orchid Seed keeps making figures from the Sweet Body artbook, like the one of the green-haired girl playing a PSP.
Did anyone else have difficulty trying to balance her perferctly on the table?
Man, it’s been forever since I’ve handled this figure. I do recall that it was a bit tricky to get her positioned but once she’s set, she’s fairly stable. Though admittedly, I’ve got her without her skirt on and I dunno if that helps her stability or not.
So then she wouldn’t be a good figure to put on top of a computer case? Ergo, she’s getting the boot!
I think you could leave her there, as long as you’re careful about not knocking her over and losing her pool ball … I remember it drove me nuts trying to find it when I unboxed this figure.
Just a few words of encouragement that your old reviews still matter! Have been running into this figure so many times (unfortunately not in real life!). It was not until stumbling on your review that I realized how lovely she is in semi cast-off mode (with skirt off). So I finally ended up getting her. I would have preferred the full cast-off mode if it would have been possible to remove the clothes from her arms as well. That feature, combined with a more vibrant hair color would have made her really perfect. But then, with curves like these, anybody can live with a few imperfections 😉
Looking back at this figure, I’m kinda surprised Orchid Seed made it since it doesn’t strongly resemble many of the figures they’ve made; a lot of them do have very bright and color-saturated hair. And a lot of them are smaller than they ought to be.
I’m a little surprised and hugely disappointed that Happoubi Jin’s artwork hasn’t inspired more figures. I was really hoping that Mafuyu from Kanojo x Kanojo x Kanojo would get a decent figure, but she’s only gotten one, and I don’t think I’d call it decent.
Man, what was I doing with these pictures …
