The Kanu Uncho love parade continues on. This was one of Griffon’s first figures I think, and I believe it was the first of their many Kanu offerings. Again, Griffon claims that she is in 1/6 scale and again they’re wrong, as she’s smaller than that. I forget exactly when I acquired this particular Kanu, but I’ve had her for several years now.
My ownership of this particular figure has been peculiarly snakebit. When I received her, the tip of her hair had broken off in the box. Attempts to glue the severed piece failed, and she eventually accumulated so much glue residue that I couldn’t even properly fit the hair fragment to her tresses. I also snapped her bardiche in half while playing with it.
I set her aside for a few years and pulled her out of the drawer a few days ago, sanded away the residue, and repaired the damage using a far more manly superglue. I also fixed the Green Dragon Crescent Blade. Then I found out I lost her base.
I admit to being perturbed for just a moment by this problem, but a genius such as myself is not daunted by such obstacles, and everyone can see my creative genius and brilliant improvisation here, which is to say, I folded up some cardboard, wrapped it in construction paper, punched some holes in it and stuck her feet onto it. A genius, I am, truly.
On to the figure itself. She is very, very pale here, far more pale than she appears in the manga. Paint quality isn’t that great as a whole, but to me, her pallid complexion is the most noticeable problem.
Overall, it would be charitable to call this a mediocre figure. It looked pretty good a few years ago when there weren’t many figures of girls with their shirts ripped to shreds, but nowadays the first thing one would notice on a figure such as this is the poor quality. This is a figure that shows the strides that contemporary figure manufacturers have made over the last few short years.

It is, and you’re definitely right about the price too. I was looking for an old e-mail a couple of weeks ago, and I came across my invoice for the old 1/8 Alter Fate Testarossa figure … it cost me around $68, and that was from a place known for its high prices.
