In the past, I have sometimes been asked, “What were you thinking?!” In this post, I reveal just that, without organization or coherence.
I wonder if I’m the only figure collector on the planet who hasn’t preordered Saber Lily yet? She certainly looks good, but I’m not a fan of frilly, billowing dresses or Fate/stay night in general. I’m undecided as to whether I’ll put in an order for her, but if Good Smile Company or someone else chucks out a figure of Rider in her combat costume, I’ll have that preordered as fast as my fingers can type my card number.
I’ve been thinking about picking up another Macross toy. I bought a couple of 1/48 scale Yamato VF-1s (Hikaru’s Do You Remember Love VF-1A and Roy Fokker’s ride) several years ago and they’ve manufactured a wide range of valkyrie toys since then. The YF-19 from Macross Plus looks nice but it seems to be difficult to find, and the two C-note price tag is a bit of a deterrent. I might just wait for Yamato to make a VF-25 toy; I don’t know anything about Macross Frontier, but the VF-25 is a hot-looking jet.
The spring anime season started this month but I haven’t yet watched any of it. I don’t actually watch a great deal of anime, despite all the money I throw at anime-related goods. The only series I’m following right now is Sora Kake Girl, which I’m enjoying even though I’m ignorant of its allusions and homages to prior shows, of which I have heard there are many. It reminds me a bit of some of the cute-girls-with-guns shows I watched when I was younger. I’m thinking about watching Valkyria Chronicles but as I intend to play the Playstation 3 game someday – just as soon as the PS3 gets some other games I want – I’m not sure if that’s a good idea. K-On seems to be the sort of show I’d like, but watching music-related shows always evokes guilt over the bass that I’ve got ensconced in its case in the basement, entombed by cardboard boxes and old dismantled furniture.
